Courier Service from Mumbai to New Zealand, Picked Up at Your Door
New Zealand has a growing Indian community of roughly 3 lakh people, including students, nurses, engineers and families who have settled in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Parcels from India to New Zealand are usually personal: certificates for study and work visas, festival sweets, spices, clothes and gifts. Our courier service from Mumbai to New Zealand handles the full journey. We collect from your address in Mumbai, prepare the export paperwork, fly the shipment to Auckland and coordinate clearance until it reaches the recipient.
New Zealand is different from the Gulf routes in one important way: biosecurity. The country protects its farming and environment very strictly, so parcels with food, seeds, wood or plant material are opened and checked, and some are held or destroyed. We tell you in advance what is likely to be a problem.
New Zealand Biosecurity: What to Know Before You Pack
New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) screens incoming mail and courier parcels. Mail that may contain food, souvenirs or seeds can be opened, examined and detained, and it may be treated or sent back if it carries a risk. To avoid trouble:
- Declare everything. A wrong or missing declaration is the most common reason a parcel is stopped. List every item, with weight and value.
- Be careful with food. Seeds, whole spices, grains, pulses, dried herbs, honey and anything made with milk, meat or egg draw the most attention. Sealed, factory-packed items are safer than loose or homemade ones.
- Avoid natural materials. Straw and rattan items are prohibited, and wooden crafts, seeds and plant material can be held.
- Use the official checker. MPI’s page on what food and other items can be sent to New Zealand explains the rules, and its online tool lets you check an item before you send it.
If an item fails inspection, the postal service or MPI contacts the recipient with the options. We recommend leaving out risky items instead of hoping they pass.
Mumbai to New Zealand Courier Delivery Time
New Zealand is a long flight from India, so it takes longer than the Gulf. You will see claims from “overnight” to 8 days online, which are not realistic for this route. A planning guide for a correctly documented parcel is below.
| Service | Typical transit* | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Express | 4–6 working days | Documents, urgent parcels, samples |
| Standard | 8–12 working days | Gifts, clothes, planned shipments |
| Air freight cargo | Quoted per shipment | Heavy, bulk or commercial consignments |
*Indicative, counted from pickup. Biosecurity inspection, customs checks, public holidays and rural addresses can add time.

New Zealand Customs, GST and Documents
New Zealand charges 15% GST. Commercial goods are generally assessed for GST and duty once the value passes about NZD 1,000, and most goods carry duty of 5% or less. Personal gifts and low-value parcels are treated differently, and thresholds change, so we confirm what applies to your parcel at booking.
| Shipment type | Typically required |
|---|---|
| Personal parcels and gifts | Sender’s photo ID and address proof; itemised contents with weight and value; recipient’s full name, street address with postcode and phone number |
| Documents | Sender’s ID; recipient’s name, full address and phone number |
| Commercial goods | Commercial invoice, packing list, IEC, GSTIN and export clearance details; consignee import details; certificate of origin where a lower duty is claimed; MPI approval for regulated goods |
| Medicines | Doctor’s prescription, original packs and generic names; Medsafe approval for controlled drugs |
